Flying Colors: Foreman rises to the occasion at Dwight D.Eisenhower National Airport

Foreman Fabricators does work throughout the United States, including at landmarks like the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport in Kansas (formerly the Wichita Mid-Continent Airport).

This high-profile project started out small for Foreman but kept growing, because we met challenges and deadlines our competitors couldn’t.  Some of our work there includes:

  • Stainless Steel Corners
  • Base Moldings
  • Trim Work
  • Kiosk Cladding
  • Impressive Aluminum Canopies

It’s a common story, the contractor was having supplier issues on the canopy system, which was a challenging job. The canopies and kiosks were designed to look like airplane wings. The other metal shop was saying the design couldn’t be made, so they asked Foreman, and we figured out how to cut and fabricate the unusual shapes to fit the client’s design concept. Problem solved by Foreman.

As Foreman worked on the complicated aluminum canopies, the contractor was having lead time issues with their wall panel supplier. “Call Foreman.” said the contractor. Yet again, Foreman came to the rescue, fabricating and delivering the wall panels on spec and on time.

Foreman was originally contracted by another client for the same project to supply stainless steel panels for wooden kiosks that were already in process. As the project progressed, the client altered their original project specs on the kiosks, and expanded Foreman’s role in the project significantly. Foreman was to adhere all of the panels to their supplied wood kiosks, which was a lot of additional work, but Foreman was happy to do it.  In order to assure proper adhesion of the panels in winter temperatures, we added heaters and created a temperature controlled area in a dedicated area of our shop. These kiosks are large, and the logistics of moving them all was a challenge in itself. The job was initiated in July of 2014. Final completion was around August of 2015. This was job we really enjoyed doing, an the results speaks for themselves.

Foreman quickly earned the reputation as the go-to fabricator for a variety of metal architectural elements of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Airport.

Great Project. Great example of Foreman’s expertise.

Our experience in fabricating decorative and functional elements of airport decor is worth noting. The work almost everyone in St. Louis will have seen and quite probably has laid their hands on, is the guardrails surrounding the baggage carousels at Lambert St. Louis Airport. These custom handrails have been holding up beautifully for over a quarter of a century of heavy use and traffic, a testament to the durability and value of choosing stainless steel for your construction projects. We also fabricated the stainless steel escalator cladding, stair cladding, corner guards, and MUFID supports.

Ornamental Metal, Decorative Metal

Functional art and ornamental metal that stands the test of time

Many of Foreman’s projects in the St. Louis area fall into the category of ornamental metal or decorative metal accents. The truth is, ornamental metal goes far beyond wrought iron fences, although we have repaired those. Metal art always makes an impression, no matter the context, and it will be around for the long term. As a result, some of our favorite projects are the ones in which we fabricate unique, decorative metal works of art.  We’ve tagged many of these in our blog posts and photo galleries: Ornamental and Decorative Metal

Foreman also has a number of ornamental metal projects in our St. Louis Landmarks series.

THE THERMOSTAT WARS!

thermostat-warsIt’s not uncommon to have an open office or cubicle are that’s unevenly served by HVAC vents, resulting in hot spots or cool spots depending on the season.  This can even result in interpersonal conflict, and ‘thermostat wars’ between employees who are feeling the heat or getting the chills.
